"Acorns to Oaks" Program Being Developed for Pre-K to 2nd Grade

The City of Brunswick planted two live oaks at the waterfront downtown during a tree planting ceremony and Arbor Day celebration at Mary Ross Park.  The trees were a gift to the city from Keep Golden Isles Beautiful.

The Lover's Oak is estimated to be 900 years old and has withstood storms, hurricanes, wars and young lovers.

Sponsored by GIFT and the Brunswick Tree Board, the inaugural Lover's Oak Festival was held Saturday, April 27th as part of our National Arbor Day Celebration.  See more...

 Inaugural Lover's Oak Festival

In celebration of National  Arbor Day, GIFT awarded  Village Inn and Pub the 2019 Annual Business Award for their efforts to preserve and protect the trees of the Golden Isles.

George and Michelle Stewart, owners of the Village Inn and Pub on St. Simons Island, took great care to preserve the trees on their property.  They built the business from a 1930s beach cottage and instituted a "no cutting" plan for the trees surrounding the Mallery Street location. See more...
